10th July 2026, Kathmandu
Excel Development Bank Limited has officially integrated into the Real Time Gross Settlement payment network managed and operated by Nepal Rastra Bank.
Excel Bank Joins RTGS
The central bank made the official announcement confirming that the regional financial institution has successfully completed all technical alignments to go live on the national gateway.
The structural integration marks an important operational milestone for the development banking sector in eastern Nepal. By connecting directly to this high-value payment infrastructure, the organization strengthens its corporate transactional capabilities and matches the digital service standards maintained by large commercial banks.
Real Time Processing for High Value Capital Transfers
The regulatory integration enables the regional banking house to offer immediate, large-volume fund transfer facilities to its growing retail and corporate client base. The payment framework is specifically engineered to handle substantial capital clearings that exceed normal electronic transaction limits.
According to technical circulars released by the central monetary authority, Excel Development Bank Limited will commence full scale network operations from Friday. The system launch allows consumers to execute secure financial transfers instantly between any participating commercial or development banks across Nepal.
Unlike traditional clearinghouse options that process financial instructions in collective daily batches, the new infrastructure executes every transaction individually on a continuous basis. This real-time processing model completely eliminates typical multi-hour processing delays, ensuring rapid liquidity transfers for business operators.
Strengthening Operational Efficiency and Financial Controls
The addition of the regional institution to the national network is expected to yield substantial improvements in overall transactional efficiency. Corporate clients, trade houses, and wholesale merchants operating across Koshi Province can now settle large vendor invoices and clear credit balances within seconds.
The system setup provides an advanced layer of settlement safety since all processed transfers are final, irrevocable, and backed by central bank settlements. This reduces the risk of payment defaults for large transactions, giving local business owners more confidence when making heavy financial movements.
For institutional consumers, the system minimizes the need to issue physical bank cheques or wait for manual inter-bank clearings. The digital routing framework enables accounting departments to monitor cash flows accurately, helping regional businesses manage working capital efficiently.
Advancing Regional Access to National Digital Architecture
Headquartered in Birtamode, Jhapa, the financial organization has historically focused on driving economic inclusion across eastern districts like Ilam, Morang, Sunsari, and Dhankuta. Integrating into the national system demonstrates the group’s ongoing focus on bringing modern payment solutions to rural and semi-urban communities.
By modernizing its central bank settlement paths, the organization ensures that rural enterprises can participate smoothly in national trade networks. The banking management intends to provide operational training across its regional branches to help local business owners navigate high-value digital transfers safely.
