Grand Scale: Features 55 automotive brands spread across 52 expansive stalls.

Educational Core: Free, open-to-all Learning Sessions featuring domestic and international industry experts.

Upgraded Infrastructure: Disability-friendly setups, weather-protected venues, premium food choices, and dedicated parking at the Nepal Police Club.

The main highlight of this year’s exhibition will be its dedicated Learning Sessions, hosted nearby at the Nepal Police Club. These sessions aim to educate stakeholders and visitors on vital sector issues, including:

Industry Insights: Rethinking EV Tax Policies & Road Safety

Speaking on pressing sector concerns, President Vaidya highlighted key policy revisions necessary for sustainable industry growth:

1. Practical Basis for EV Taxation

Vaidya criticized the current tax system based on an EV’s ‘peak power’. Because peak power can fluctuate depending on motor torque and electronic settings, using it as a strict tax metric creates market confusion. Minor price variations can push a vehicle into a higher tax bracket, unfairly burdening consumers. A more practical and predictable taxation framework is needed.

2. Infrastructure-First Traffic Management

While strictly advocating for penalties against dangerous driving (e.g., drunk driving or ignoring seatbelts), Vaidya pointed out that raising traffic fines without basic infrastructure like visible lane markings and adequate parking zones is counterproductive. Infrastructure improvements must take priority over fines.

NAIMA’s Broader Role in Community & Governance

NAIMA’s focus extends well past commercial interests. In partnership with the Traffic Police, Department of Transport Management, and government agencies, NAIMA has:

Trained over 1,600 individuals on operating and managing electric and hybrid vehicles.

Enforced strict membership criteria (minimum capital requirements, operational history, and official manufacturer authorization) to safeguard consumer rights.

Planned dedicated, separate exhibitions for passenger and commercial vehicles starting next year, alongside a specialized Automotive Conclave.

Despite current economic slowdowns, NAIMA remains optimistic about positive policy changes over the next 6 to 8 months.
