The agreement was signed at the CAN Federation central office in Kathmandu by Chiranjibi Adhikari, Acting President of the CAN Federation, and Purna Duwal, President of the TJF.
Strategic Focus Areas of the Partnership
The primary goal of this collaboration is to raise public awareness around emerging technologies, enhance the skills of media professionals covering the tech sector, and promote evidence-based reporting on digital initiatives across Nepal.
Key areas of cooperation include:
Capacity Building for Journalists: CAN Federation will organize regular workshops, training modules, and knowledge-sharing sessions for TJF members. Training topics will span Artificial Intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, software development, the digital economy, and startup ecosystems.
Access to National and International Events: TJF member journalists will receive support to participate in national and international IT expos, technology conferences, corporate study tours, and visits to innovation hubs and tech companies.
In-Depth Tech Reporting: TJF will work alongside CAN Federation, industry experts, and government stakeholders to produce and disseminate news, feature articles, and policy analyses across various media platforms.
Driving Joint Research and National Awareness
Beyond media coverage, the agreement establishes a framework for academic and policy-focused collaboration:
Annual Research Studies: The two organizations will jointly execute at least one research study annually addressing key trends, challenges, and growth opportunities within Nepal’s IT sector.
Public Engagement Programs: CAN Federation and TJF will co-host conferences, seminars, and public campaigns aimed at improving digital literacy, advocating for robust cybersecurity practices, and nurturing tech entrepreneurship nationwide.
Impact on Nepal’s Digital Ecosystem
As Nepal pushes toward digital governance and a modern tech economy, well-informed technology journalism is vital for holding stakeholders accountable and guiding public policy.
By pairing industry expertise from the CAN Federation with the reach of TJF’s journalism network, this initiative builds a strong foundation for digital literacy and technology adoption across the country.
