21st August 2026, Kathmandu
National Life Insurance Company Limited has issued a strict social media code of conduct for its insurance agents prohibiting the unauthorized use of the company name, logo, insurance plans, and customer data on social platforms.
National Life Code of Conduct
The enforcement comes after instances of misleading promotional content, incorrect interpretation of insurance products, and unauthorized self-assigned titles on social media. The company dispatched an official directive on Bhadra 3 to all provincial and branch heads to ensure immediate compliance across its agency network.
Key Directives and Prohibitions Under Code of Conduct
Use of Company Identity and Titles: Agents are barred from independently using or altering the official name, logo, or insurance products of National Life on social media. Agents are prohibited from using unapproved professional titles such as Insurance Advisor, Financial Consultant, or Wealth Advisor unless formally assigned by the company or recognized by prevailing laws.
Product Marketing and Interpretation: Agents must strictly adhere to official company documentation and refrain from personal interpretations of insurance plans. Promoters cannot market single-payment insurance plans as Fixed Deposit Insurance Plans or falsely claim that insurance policies generate interest.
Claim Figures and Bonus Declarations: Agents are forbidden from publishing specific figures regarding death claims, maturity payouts, surrender values, paid-up values, or declaring that the company provides the highest bonus rate.
Privacy and Claim Publicity Guidelines: To safeguard policyholder confidentiality, agents must not upload photos of insured individuals, beneficiaries, check handover ceremonies, or personal identifying data without written consent.
Financial Transactions: Agents are prohibited from collecting insurance premiums or any form of financial payment personally in the name of the company.
Legal Accountability and Compliance
National Life Insurance Company Limited clarified that any social media activity violating the directives of Nepal Insurance Authority or company policy will carry personal liability. Agents violating these regulations will bear full responsibility for any legal or regulatory consequences.
The policy aims to protect customer privacy, eliminate misleading insurance information, and maintain institutional reputation across all digital platforms.
