Nepal Investment Mega Bank Chief Executive Officer Jyoti Prakash Pandey has been released from custody

Case Details and Court Hearing
Pandey appeared before the Kathmandu District Court on Thursday for a detention hearing. The Central Investigation Bureau of Nepal Police had filed a banking offense case against him concerning the auction of assets linked to Smart Telecom.
Government prosecutors presented investigation findings alleging irregularities in the collateral auction process. Defence lawyers argued against the allegations, maintaining that the bank acted within standard loan recovery procedures.
Bail Terms and Next Steps
Following the arguments, the bench of Kathmandu District Court Judge Kamal Kant Joshi ordered Pandey to post a bank guarantee. Upon furnishing the required guarantee on Thursday, Pandey was released to face trial outside of detention.
