NADA Auto Show Affected Due to Disasters; Decline in Number of Visitors

The NADA Auto Show 2026 in Kathmandu has been impacted by the Rasuwa floods, affecting visitor turnout and supply chains. Organizers pivot toward relief efforts as the 18th edition concludes.

The ongoing ‘NADA Auto Show 2026’ at Bhrikutimandap, Kathmandu, has been visibly impacted by the devastating floods in Rasuwa. Visitor turnout at the show has not met expectations.
Organized by the NADA Automobiles Association of Nepal (NADA) from August 25 to 30 (Bhadra 9 to 14), the event drew a crowd on Saturday. However, the effects of the catastrophic disaster were evident in the two days following the inauguration ceremony.
Anup Baral, Coordinator of the ‘NADA Auto Show 2026’, shared that a crowd of visitors picked up on Saturday.
“The first day of the auto show went exceptionally well, but on the second day, a major tragedy struck the country. It is natural for turnout to decrease because when people’s hearts are heavy, their interest in events naturally drops, and we must accept this as natural,” Coordinator Baral said. “In such a situation, we also shifted our priorities toward relief collection and figuring out how to support the affected areas. Our team has been deployed to work on this.”
He noted that after a remarkable turnout on the first day, numbers dropped on the second, but the flow improved significantly after 12:00 PM on the third day, and visitor presence increased after 1:00 PM on the fourth day as well.

He shared that hundreds of vehicles and automotive parts belonging to companies affiliated with NADA have been lost in the flood-affected areas, drivers have gone missing, and containers carrying large quantities of spare parts have vanished.
Emphasizing that the northern Rasuwa transit route is vital for the automobile sector, he stated that immediate alternatives must be sought and initiatives taken to identify routes and clear tracks.
Stressing that everyone must pull together to keep the economy moving even during difficult times, Baral pointed out the need to proceed with caution.
“In times like this, instead of panicking or casting blame, we must work collectively with composure. Prioritizing the rescue of the injured, the search for the victims, and the recovery of submerged and missing items is essential. NADA is also looking into the hardships faced by business owners with utmost seriousness,” he added.
This 18th edition of the auto show is being held to mark the Golden Jubilee, celebrating 50 years since NADA’s establishment. The show concludes tomorrow, August 30 (Bhadra 14).
