National Cooperative Bank Allocates Financial Assistance for Disaster-Affected Cooperatives and Relief Funds

National Cooperative Bank Limited has allocated Rs. 2 million to help flood- and landslide-affected cooperative organizations restore institutional operations, preserve damaged records, and resume financial services following severe weather events across Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, and neighboring districts.

Support for Cooperatives: The bank has earmarked Rs. 2 million to assist local cooperatives whose physical infrastructure, technological equipment, and records were destroyed. Distribution will occur in coordination with respective District Cooperative Unions based on board-approved criteria.
Prime Minister Relief Fund: The Board of Directors authorized a direct contribution of Rs. 555,555 to the Prime Minister Natural Disaster Rescue Fund. Board members and the Audit Supervision Committee also pledged one day of meeting allowances to the cause.
Employee Relief and Internal Support Initiatives
Impact on Staff: Floods and landslides damaged the personal property of three employees at the Nuwakot Branch, while relatives of several staff members remain out of contact.

Voluntary Staff Fund: Bank personnel voluntarily raised Rs. 604,532.67 to support affected colleagues. Immediate relief of Rs. 50,000 each has been disbursed to the three impacted Nuwakot Branch employees.

Capacity Restoration: The bank committed to extending financial, technical, and operational resources to rebuild disaster-affected cooperative infrastructure and guarantee uninterrupted service delivery.
Humanitarian Appeal: Expressing sympathy to bereaved families and wishing a quick recovery to the injured, the institution urged government authorities to accelerate rescue operations and provide temporary shelter, clean water, food, and medical care to displaced citizens.
