Nepal Telecom Hands Over NPR 10 Crore to Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund for Rasuwa Flood Victims

Demonstrating strong corporate social responsibility during a national crisis, Nepal Telecom has made a substantial institutional contribution of NPR 10 crore (ten crore rupees) to the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund.
Nepal Telecom Hands Over NPR 10 Crore
The funds are dedicated to the ongoing emergency rescue, immediate relief, and long-term rehabilitation of communities severely impacted by the catastrophic flash floods that struck the Bhote Koshi River in Rasuwa district.

In a special program held at the Ministry, the official check was handed over to the Minister for Finance, Dr. Swarnim Wagle.
The high-profile handover event took place in the esteemed presence of:
Dr. Bikram Timilsina – Minister for Information and Communications
Rajendra Kumar Paudel – Ministry Secretary and Chairman of Nepal Telecom’s Board of Directors
Sangeeta Pahadi (Aryal) – Managing Director, Nepal Telecom, who officially presented the contribution check
Key company executives also attended the ceremony, including Chief Operating Officer Prem Prasad Silwal, Chief Financial Officer Dwarka Prasad Paudel, and Chief Commercial Officer Gopalsingh Kesi.
Comprehensive Support from Nepal Telecom
Beyond the major institutional contribution of NPR 10 crore, Nepal Telecom and its workforce have stepped up through multiple channels to support disaster management efforts:
Employee Contributions: Prior to the corporate donation, employees of Nepal Telecom voluntarily contributed NPR 2 crore 2 lakh 26 thousand 66, which has already been handed over to the Finance Minister.
Free Telecom Services: To keep families connected and assist rescue operations, Nepal Telecom immediately rolled out NPR 6 crore worth of free voice calls, data, and SMS services to customers residing in the flood-ravaged zones.
Commitment to Continuity: The state-owned telecommunication leader has repeatedly proven its dedication to national welfare during past crises, including earthquakes, landslides, and the COVID-19 pandemic.
A Vital Boost for National Rehabilitation Efforts
The massive devastation caused by the Bhote Koshi flash floods has prompted an outpouring of national and international support, with total deposits in the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund surging past NPR 11.9 billion.
