Jeevan Bikas Laghubitta Conducts Social Work Initiatives Across 160 Locations

Jeevan Bikas Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited has marked Volunteer Day by conducting social work programs across 160 locations.

Jeevan Bikas Social Work 

Organized on Ashwin 5 to coincide with the establishment anniversary of its parent organization Jeevan Bikas Samaj, the initiative was executed under the core slogan calling for labor contribution toward national development. Jeevan Bikas operates 160 branch offices across 31 districts in Koshi, Madhesh, and Bagmati provinces, delivering financial services to households across these regions. According to spokesperson Sudeep Kumar Mandal, all branch offices organized community development activities within their operational areas.

Community Infrastructure and Rebuilding Initiatives

Branch offices spearheaded physical reconstruction, environmental, and public facility maintenance projects through voluntary labor.

Housing Reconstruction: Microfinance branches reconstructed houses for 16 ultra-poor families unable to afford shelter repair through direct voluntary labor.

Environmental Protection and Planting: Branch initiatives included tree plantation drives across 12 locations, combined school cleaning and plantation programs across 23 branches, combined market cleanup and tree planting across 5 branches, and additional plantations at local eco-villages, public buildings, and sports grounds.

Sanitation and Waste Management: Programs included temple cleanup and dustbin distribution across 19 locations, combined temple cleaning, dustbin distribution, and tree planting across 26 branches, and market sanitation cleanups across 5 branches.

Educational and Community Support: 36 branch offices conducted school cleaning and sports programs, 4 branches provided targeted relief assistance to highly vulnerable families, 2 locations constructed public resting platforms (chautaris), while other branches supported local senior citizen centers with food supplies and performed sanitation at a local police post.

Organizational Background and Community Participation

Local community stakeholders and institutional leadership actively participated in the Volunteer Day activities.

• Stakeholder Engagement: The social events brought together local government representatives, Three Zero Clubs, Nawa Bihani groups, microfinance staff, civil society leaders, and member clients.
• Historical Context: Chief Executive Officer Sanjay Kumar Mandal stated that Jeevan Bikas declared Volunteer Day during a member conference in 2015 (2072 BS) and has continuously organized annual community labor initiatives since 2016 (2073 BS) to foster civic duty and volunteerism.
