The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has called upon media organizations, cricket fans, and key industry stakeholders to offer positive and constructive support to ensure the upcoming third edition of the Nepal Premier League (NPL) achieves complete operational success.
Speaking at a major pre-tournament press conference in Kathmandu, CAN President Chatur Bahadur Chand emphasized the collective effort needed to execute a smooth, world-class sports event.
“To make the NPL a monumental success, active cooperation and a positive role from all sectors are indispensable. The media and all cricket stakeholders play a pivotal role in taking this league to the next level.” — Chatur Bahadur Chand, CAN President
Fully Empowered NPL Governing Committee
Addressing operational and administrative structures, President Chand highlighted that a dedicated, empowered committee has been established to handle tournament execution swiftly.
He clarified the decision-making process within CAN:
Operational Efficiency: The NPL Operating Committee holds direct decision-making authority to streamline day-to-day operations.
Board Oversight: Major decisions taken by the committee are formally presented to the CAN Board and General Assembly for thorough discussion and official ratification.
Transparency and Legal Standards in Financial Auditing
President Chand also directly addressed queries regarding the league’s financial auditing processes, outlining the mandatory legal protocols governing CAN:
Mandatory Internal Route: Legal frameworks stipulate that all NPL audit activities must be processed centrally through CAN.
Key Signatories: The finalized audit documents require formal signatures from the Executive President, Secretary, and Treasurer.
ICC Compliance: Following board approval, the final audited financial statements are submitted directly to the International Cricket Council (ICC) to ensure international compliance.
Chand noted that Season 2 showed substantial structural progress over the inaugural edition, expressing confidence that Season 3 will establish even higher organizational standards.
