A nationwide high alert has been issued following the development of a deep depression in the Bay of Bengal and active monsoon winds. Taking swift action, Acting Prime Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle reviewed the week’s weather forecast and the disaster mitigation preparations in place.
During a briefing at the Ministry of Finance on Wednesday, the Chief Executive of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA), Dr. Dharma Raj Upreti, and the Director General of the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, Dr. Archana Shrestha, updated the Acting Prime Minister on ongoing weather projections and emergency responses.

Nationwide Alert: Dr. Shrestha reported that Nepal is under high alert due to the active monsoon system and the Bay of Bengal’s atmospheric system.
24/7 Information Desk: Dr. Upreti stated that a round-the-clock information desk has been established, alongside active coordination with district administrations, tourism, transportation, and infrastructure sectors.
Expected Improvement: Weather conditions are forecasted to gradually improve starting this Sunday.
