APIGA Nepal 2025: Empowering Youth and Reforming Nepal’s Internet Ecosystem
27th December 2025, Kathmandu
The digital landscape of Nepal is at a transformative crossroads. As the world becomes increasingly interconnected, the need for robust policy frameworks and skilled leadership has never been more urgent.
APIGA Nepal 2025 Empowering Youth
APIGA Nepal 2025 (Asia Pacific Internet Governance Academy) has emerged as a cornerstone event, providing a localized platform to nurture the next generation of Nepalese leaders in the complex field of Internet governance.
Strengthening the Foundation of the Nepalese Internet
Over two intensive days, APIGA Nepal 2025 offered participants a deep dive into the multistakeholder model that governs the global web. Through collaboration with experts from local and international organizations, the program focused on critical pillars:
ICANN Policies: Understanding the rules that ensure a stable and unified global Internet.
DNS Management: Mastering the technical backbone of Internet naming systems.
Youth Representation: Placing young Nepalese professionals at the heart of policy decision-making.
The academy serves not just as a training ground, but as a bridge between academic theory and professional policy development.
Keynote Insights: Chiranjibi Adhikari on Policy Reform
A major highlight of the event was the keynote address by Chiranjibi Adhikari, the Senior Vice President of the Federation of Computer Association Nepal (CAN Federation). Adhikari, a veteran in the ICT sector, emphasized that for Nepal to thrive in the digital age, it must reform existing policies to match global standards.
As the CEO of One Cover Private Limited, a dedicated cybersecurity company, Adhikari brought a unique perspective on security-first governance. He highlighted that a digital ecosystem is only as strong as its weakest link, urging for a framework that balances innovation with rigorous cyber resilience.
Cybersecurity: The One Cover Perspective
With One Cover Private Limited at the forefront of the industry, the discussion at APIGA Nepal 2025 naturally pivoted toward the security of the Nepalese digital infrastructure. The academy empowered attendees to analyze policy through a “security lens,” ensuring that future laws protect data privacy and combat emerging cyber threats.
By engaging in hands-on simulation exercises and roundtable discussions, participants learned how to navigate the intersection of technical cybersecurity and international policy, a skill set that is in high demand as Nepal moves toward a “Digital Nepal” framework.
The Future: A New Generation of Leaders
The success of APIGA Nepal 2025 lies in its commitment to the youth. By instilling a sense of ownership, the program ensures that Nepalese participants don’t just observe the future of the Internet; they lead it. As these participants return to their professional spheres, they carry with them the knowledge of ICANN processes and a renewed commitment to advancing Internet governance principles both locally and beyond.
