This comprehensive review will focus on the income and expenditure of government agencies for the previous financial year.
Auditor General Toyam Raya announced that the audit will be conducted in phases, starting with the initial 40 districts. Approximately 100 audit teams have been assigned to these districts, with plans to extend the audit to additional areas after the Dashain festival.
Auditor General Raya has scheduled two meetings with the audited agencies via Zoom to enhance transparency and address concerns about audit practices. These meetings, set for August 31 and at the end of the audit period, will enable officials to provide feedback and raise concerns directly. The Zoom platform will accommodate up to 500 participants, ensuring broad participation from various agencies.
Addressing recent criticisms about the Auditor General’s staff, Raya emphasized that any instances of bribery or misconduct should be reported directly via email to gunaso@oagnep.gov.np. He assured that such reports will be reviewed personally by him, aiming to uphold the integrity of the audit process. The public is encouraged to use the toll-free number 18105000061 for suggestions and complaints, which will be reviewed by the Auditor General’s Secretariat.
In response to concerns about past audit practices, Auditor General Raya highlighted efforts to improve transparency and address weaknesses identified at the local level. The initiative aims to refine audit procedures and ensure that public bodies adhere to high standards of accountability.
For further details or to participate in the meetings, officials and the public can visit the Auditor General’s website or use the provided communication channels.
