Banking Alert! Banks now have to inform their customer before charging internet and SMS charges.
Banks and financial institutions must inform the customers in advance before charging internet mobile, SMS banking fees. Nepal Rastra Bank has made such an arrangement by issuing a directive. Similarly, there is a provision to charge Rs 20 for using one bank’s ATM in another. The Corona pandemic and Lockdown were made free of such charges. Earlier, banks had been charging Rs 50 each for such facilities. According to the NRB directive, when using one bank’s ATM in another, up to two transactions per month have to be paid for free. After that, other transactions will be charged Rs 20 per transaction.

The following amendment has been added in the Unified Directive on Payment System-2077 issued to the Licensed Paying Institution from this bank with effect from 1st of Magh, 2070, as per Section 45 of the Payments and Facilities Act, 2075. This instruction has been issued using the right.
