Build Nepal Hackathon 2026 Kicks Off: Youth Innovators Compete in AI, Robotics, and Cloud Tech

Mid-Valley International College has officially launched its highly anticipated ‘Build Nepal Hackathon’ in Kathmandu. Centered around the theme “Build Today, Transform Tomorrow,” the two-day tech event runs from August 1 to August 2, 2026, bringing together some of the brightest young minds in the region.

Designed to foster youth-led digital innovation, the hackathon features over 60 participants divided into 21 multidisciplinary teams.
Targeting individuals aged 16 to 24, the event challenges participants to leverage cutting-edge technologies including Artificial Intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), Robotics, and Cloud Computing to solve real-world problems facing Nepalese society.

Competing teams are developing functional prototypes and Minimum Viable Products (MVPs) across six core thematic domains:

Expert Mentorship and Industry Collaboration
To ensure high-quality, practical solutions, the participants are receiving hands-on guidance from eight prominent IT experts and mentors. Mentors from leading tech firms such as Proshore, Pinakine Technologies, and Geneses are actively providing technical and strategic counseling throughout the development phase.

Sudip Lal Bajimaya, the Bachelor of Information Technology (BIT) Program Manager at Mid-Valley International College, emphasized that the hackathon’s primary goal is to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application.
“Young innovators will play a critical role in Nepal’s development over the coming decade. Collaborating directly with experienced industry experts will empower our youth to build tech-driven solutions tailored to the country’s actual challenges,” Bajimaya stated.
Grand Finale and Distinguished Judges
On the final day (Sunday, August 2), all competing teams will pitch their MVPs to a panel of esteemed judges. The evaluation panel features top-tier tech entrepreneurs and industry leaders:

Manish Khemka: Managing Director, BLC Global Holdings Pvt. Ltd. & Chairman, Global Equity Fund
Amit Agrawal: Co-founder & Director, Khalti (IME Khalti Limited)
The competition boasts a prize pool exceeding NPR 75,000. The event is proudly supported by prominent institutional and technical partners, including Alpha Beta, Geneses, Vianet, Dami Experience, Pinakine Technology, and Proshore Nepal Pvt. Ltd.
Winners of the hackathon will be officially announced on Sunday evening following the final presentations.
