Cambridge Reaches 1,000 South Asian Schools, Driving Education Innovation & Excellence – Strong Growth in Nepal
25th July 2025, Kathmandu
Cambridge University Press & Assessment (Cambridge) has announced a significant milestone, surpassing 1,000 Cambridge International Schools across South Asia.
Cambridge Reaches 1000 South Asian Schools
This achievement underscores Cambridge’s dedication to providing world-class education in the region, with a particularly strong presence and growing demand in Nepal.
The increasing adoption of international curricula in Nepal reflects a notable shift in educational priorities. This trend is fueled by increased global exposure and a strong desire among Nepalese parents to equip their children for global opportunities, including higher education abroad, through internationally recognized qualifications.
School leaders in Nepal are increasingly choosing Cambridge for several compelling reasons:
Globally Recognized Framework: Cambridge offers a trusted framework for students aged 3-19, with a curriculum that can be effectively adapted to local contexts. This fosters strong national and cultural identities while maintaining a vital global perspective.
Inquiry-Based Learning: The Cambridge curriculum champions inquiry-based learning, cultivating attributes in students that lead to confidence, responsibility, respect, responsiveness, reflection, and innovation.
Robust Teacher Support: Cambridge provides extensive support and professional development opportunities for educators, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning experiences.
The expansion of Cambridge in South Asia mirrors a broader global movement towards international education, evidenced by a record number of students taking Cambridge exams in 2024. In response to regional demand, Cambridge will introduce a third Cambridge Checkpoint test series in March 2026, offering schools greater flexibility in aligning assessments with their academic calendars.
Vinay Sharma, Senior Vice President for International Education in South Asia, commented on this achievement: “Crossing the 1,000 schools mark in South Asia is a testament to our unwavering commitment to delivering world-class education that empowers learners and educators alike. We are proud to be at the forefront of driving innovation, inclusion, and excellence across the region. Our programmes go beyond academic achievement — they equip learners with the skills, mindset, and confidence to navigate global challenges, from climate change to the rise of AI. Together with our schools, we are shaping the future of education.”
