CAN Federation Leadership Honored By Nepal Government For Pioneering ICT Skill Development
7th January 2026, Kathmandu
In a significant milestone for the Nepalese Information Communication and Technology (ICT) sector, the Government of Nepal has officially recognized the Federation of Computer Association Nepal (CAN Federation) and its top leadership for their transformative contributions to vocational training and human resource development.
CAN Federation Leadership Honored
The honors were conferred by the National Vocational Training Academy (NVTA), under the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security, during a special ceremony marking the Academy’s second anniversary at Bhaisepati, Lalitpur.
Recognition of Visionary Leadership
The government presented Letters of Appreciation and Commendation to key figures within the CAN Federation:
CAN Federation (Organization): Honored for its significant role in ICT skill development, digital literacy, and nationwide human resource empowerment.
Chiranjibi Adhikari (Senior Vice President): Recognized for his foundational role in pioneering vocational ICT initiatives.
Chandra Bilash Bhurtel (General Secretary): Commended for his effective leadership as the Coordinator of the Curriculum Draft Subcommittee.
Bridging the Gap: “Skills in Hands” Philosophy
A highlight of the recognition was the vocational ICT training model initiated by Chiranjibi Adhikari during his previous tenure as General Secretary. Moving beyond traditional academic certificates, Adhikari proposed a comprehensive model integrating soft skills with professional technical skills.
His vision shifted the industry focus from being merely “certified” to being “mandatory qualified,” ensuring that Nepalese trainees graduate with practical, industry-standard “skills in hand.
Impact on the Labor Market
During the fiscal year 2081/082, the collaboration between the NVTA and CAN Federation resulted in the development of specialized curricula for two basic skill-based training trades in the computer sector.
These programs were specifically designed to meet the current demands of the labor market, ensuring that the production of a skilled workforce aligns with economic needs.
The awards were signed and presented by high-level officials, including:
Rajendra Singh Bhandari: Minister for Labour, Employment and Social Security (Chief Guest).
Dr. Dipak Kafele: Secretary of the Ministry and Chairman of the NVTA Development Committee.
Ramesh Kumar Bakhati: Executive Director of the NVTA.
A Future-Forward Commitment
The CAN Federation has reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with the Government of Nepal and relevant stakeholders.
Moving forward, the Federation aims to enhance IT skill development further, create sustainable employment opportunities, and strengthen the technical capacity of the Nepalese workforce to compete in the global digital economy.
