CEO of Genese Solution Arrested on a Charge of Destroying Hosted Data Illegally

The Cyber ​​Bureau under the Nepal Police Headquarters has arrested Prasanna Pokharel, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Genese Solutions, on the charge of destroying hosted data illegally.

The CEO has been arrested on the charge of destroying and damaging the hosted data of Sundar Group of Companies Pvt Ltd

Sundar Group of Companies Pvt. Ltd. has been engaged in computer and accounting equipment business, computer wholesale business, and importing various other items. The company provided a web portal designed for its customers and hosted data through Genese Solutions Pvt. Ltd.

But Genese Solutions has been accused of entering the hosting account without prior notice and destroying all the data without prior notice.

 Pokharel, the CEO of Genese Solutions Pvt. Ltd., located in Jhamsikhel, Lalitpur, was arrested as he was involved in the said action based on the preliminary investigation conducted by the bureau on the complaint received.

He is a permanent resident of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Battisputli, and was arrested by the Bureau’s team on 21st Bhadra after obtaining an arrest permit from the Kathmandu District Court for an offense under the Electronic Transactions Act 2063.

 According to the Bureau, necessary investigation work is being carried out on Pokharel, who was arrested on Bhadra 22, by the court’s order of Bhadra 23, and the deadline has been extended by three days.

Genese Solution’s Global CTO is Anjani Kumar Phuyal, Pakistan’s CEO is Raja Mehmood and Bangladesh’s managing director is Ziaul Hussain. Genese Solutions claims to be the official cloud consulting provider of Amazon Web Services and Cloud Consulting Company.

Prasanna Pokhrel Arrested

Genese Solution, a UK-based IT and cybersecurity consulting company, has been exonerated by the Kathmandu District Court in a case filed by the Sundar Group of Companies, alleging violations of Nepal’s Electronic Transactions Act 2008. The court ruling on October 22, 2024, found insufficient evidence against the company.
