ChildSafeNet, in collaboration with the National Child Rights Council (NCRC) and partner organizations, organized Safer Internet Day (SID) 2025 awareness events across Nepal.

To promote online safety and responsible digital practices, a series of digital safety programs were conducted to educate children, young people, and communities about safer internet use and protection from online harm.
Since 2019, ChildSafeNet has been serving as the national secretariat and coordinator for Safer Internet Day in Nepal, advocating for online child protection and digital literacy. This year, more than 50 organizations joined hands with ChildSafeNet to commemorate Safer Internet Day, demonstrating a strong collective commitment to making the Internet safer for all.
A range of online safety awareness programs was conducted in Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Kavre, Ramechhap, Sunsari, Morang, Tanahun, Kaski, Nawalparasi, Achham, and Bajura districts. More events are scheduled to take place in other districts later this month.
Highlighting the significance of the initiative, Anil Raghuvanshi, Founder and President of ChildSafeNet, stated, “Safer Internet Day provides an opportunity to raise awareness on online safety and to advocate with multi-sectoral duty bearers to prioritize digital safety for children and young people. We urge stakeholders to increase budgetary allocations to protect children in the digital age.”
As part of the SID activities, Ellaine Memorial Higher Secondary School +2 hosted a public infotainment event on 11 February 2025 to educate children and young people about digital safety.
The event featured engaging performances by students and teachers, including dances, songs, and drama, creatively delivering key messages on safe internet use. Additionally, ChildSafeNet conducted an interactive cyber safety quiz, providing students with practical insights into responsible online behavior.
Chief Guest of the event Indra Devi Dhakal, Member-Secretary of NCRC, highlighted the importance of protecting children in the digital age, stating, “Child online safety is a priority for NCRC. We are collaborating with ChildSafeNet to ensure a safer online environment for children. We welcome partnerships with other organizations to promote online safety initiatives.”
The event was chaired by Sapna Tuladhar, Executive Director of Ellaine Memorial School, while Allen Tuladhar, Founder of Ellaine Memorial School and a pioneer in Nepal’s IT sector, encouraged students to use digital technology positively and responsibly.
More than 300 students, teachers, and representatives from Nagarjun Municipality and PABSON actively participated, reinforcing the shared commitment to digital safety.
In addition, ChildSafeNet’s partner organizations conducted awareness activities.
Earlier, ChildSafeNet conducted an interactive session at Rato Bangala School on 10 February 2025. The session was participated by 206 students from grades 5, 6, and 7, including 119 girls and 87 boys.
Through engaging activities such as a Digital Safety Quiz and role-play, the facilitators sensitized students to online risks, including child online grooming, online gaming risks, and the misuse of AI.
In partnership with Triple H, ChildSafeNet conducted more than 30 training sessions on online safety in Achham, Bajura, Kavre, and Ramechhap in January and February.
Furthermore, in Dharan, Sunakhari Academy organized an essay writing competition on digital safety for children on 8 February 2025.
Likewise, in Dharan, Shree Sharada Balika Namuna Secondary School organized an online safety awareness rally on 11 February 2025. More than 350 people, mostly students (all girls) as well as teachers and parents participated in the rally.
In Pokhara, Shree Krishna Secondary School organized a speech competition on online safety. Moreover, Social Public School organized a drawing competition in Pokhara.
Moreover, in Nawalparasi, Veda Srijansheel Sanstha organized an interaction program on internet safety for children.
Additionally, in Bandipur, Deepshikha School will be organizing online safety training and awareness activities to commemorate Safer Internet Day.
In Belbari, Morang, Shree Laxmi Secondary School organized an oratory competition.
These initiatives reaffirm the collective effort of ChildSafeNet and its partners in educating and empowering children and young people to navigate the digital world safely.
