With the temporary closure of the Rasuwagadhi and Tatopani checkpoints, the Korala border has absorbed significant commercial traffic, handling everything from daily consumer goods and food grains to livestock.
Federal authorities recently emphasized the critical need to streamline quarantine processes at the border to support safe animal movement. According to Dr. Ganesh Kesi, Chief of the Livestock Quarantine Office in Pokhara, 373 chyanggras and 46 sheep have already entered through the Korala checkpost. To ensure safety, all imported animals are being vaccinated against PPR (Peste des Petits Ruminants) and kept in mandated isolation for a week.

Building on last year’s successful model—which served customers across Kathmandu, Pokhara, Birtamode, Syangja, Chitwan, Dhangadhi, Dharan, Kushma, and Dang—the initiative aims to fulfill orders digitally, allowing consumers to secure festive livestock directly through e-commerce channels.
