Citizens Bank International Limited has launched its new integrated digital platform, “Citizens DiZiBank,” a major step intended to consolidate its scattered digital services into a single, unified channel. Unveiled on November 24, this platform’s primary objective is to offer customers a faster, smoother, and more convenient banking experience, marking the bank’s significant push toward advanced digital operations.
Core Features and Accessibility of DiZiBank
Citizens DiZiBank is designed to be fully integrated, enhancing customer interaction across multiple access points and streamlining numerous banking processes.
Unified Channel: The platform successfully merges various previously separate digital services into one integrated system. This centralized approach simplifies navigation and access for the user, moving away from a fragmented digital service model.
Dual Accessibility: The platform is engineered to be accessible through both web and mobile channels. Customers can access the services via the bank’s official website or through the dedicated “Citizens Smart” mobile banking app. This ensures that services are available to a broad user base regardless of their preferred device.
First Phase Services: The initial launch phase of Citizens DiZiBank features a total of 50 digital banking services. These services cover a wide spectrum of essential banking needs, reducing the reliance on physical branch visits. Key services include:
Account and Information Updates: Online account opening, updating Permanent Account Number (PAN) details, and updating national ID information.
Request Submissions: Requests for TDS (Tax Deducted at Source) certificates and applications for safe deposit locker services.
Securities and Cards: Various services related to Demat accounts, mobile banking registration, and different card-related requests.
Future Expansion: The bank has committed to continuously upgrading the platform, with plans to integrate even more digital services in the future to make Citizens DiZiBank a comprehensive and powerful tool for its customers.
Citizens Bank’s Digital Innovation Track Record
The launch of Citizens DiZiBank is consistent with the bank’s recent history of embracing digital transformation and innovative product development across different customer segments.
Youth Focus: The bank previously launched the “Citizens Gen-Z Saving Account,” specifically targeting the younger generation with digitally optimized features.
Pioneering Digital Credit: Citizens Bank was the first in Nepal to introduce a virtual credit card, the “Citizens PhonePe Credit Card,” through a collaboration with the popular payment service provider PhonePe.
Freelancer Support: Demonstrating specialization, the bank also created a dedicated “Freelancer Savings Account,” catering to the unique financial needs of Nepal’s growing digital and gig economy workers.
CRN and Share Applications: Citizens Bank achieved another first by enabling share application and CRN (C-ASBA Registration Number) services directly through its mobile banking app. This significantly eased the process for public share applicants, who traditionally had to visit a bank or branch of a merchant banker.
Cross-Bank Teller Service: Further enhancing financial accessibility, the bank introduced the Cross Bank Teller service. This feature allows customers of other banks to withdraw cash from any Citizens Bank branch simply by scanning a teller QR code, a powerful step toward interoperability within the financial system.
Institutional Strength and Market Positioning
The bank is one of the key players in the Nepali financial market, backed by an extensive physical network and a large customer base.
Network and Reach: Citizens Bank operates a robust network, serving approximately 1.954 million customers across 61 districts. Its physical infrastructure includes 200 branches, 169 ATMs, 3 extension counters, and 42 branchless banking units.
Strategic Benchmark: As digital transformation continues to accelerate across the country, the launch of an integrated platform like Citizens DiZiBank positions the bank as a forward-looking institution ready to meet and exceed modern customer expectations. This strategic step not only fortifies the bank’s own digital ecosystem but also sets a competitive benchmark for the entire industry, ensuring a more innovative and customer-friendly future for banking in Nepal.
