Digital Nepal Conference is being organized in Janakpur, for the first time by Code for Nepal in partnership with local organizations. It is expected that around 120+ of college students and civil society leaders will participate in the program. Code for Nepal hopes that the participants will come out of the conference inspired, with actionable next steps and digital tools for making their dreams a reality.
At the conference, Code for Nepal will also announce scholarships for up to 25 young women to learn to code. Furthermore, they will also publish Code for Nepal’s support for a local digital literacy center, by funding the salary for a digital trainer who will teach the local youth for free.
Attendees of the program will learn several things about the digital world, and how to use several digital platforms more sensibly. The trainers will teach the attendees things like how to use social media responsibly (during natural disaster or crisis), launch a successful business, citizen journalism, data visualization, multimedia storytelling, and public speaking. Participants will also get to network and find mentors.
The conference will feature both national and international speakers, who will be presenting on several topics, as mentioned above. The first president of Nepal, Dr. Ram Baran Yadav, will be the chief guest of this conference. Some of the notable speakers taking part in the conference are: Mr. Biswas Dhakal, from F1Soft International, Ms. Yogina Shakya, from the CloudFactory, Mr. Dietrich Ayala from Mozilla and Ms. Anusha Yadav from Accountability Lab.
