Deerwalk Learning Center has launched the DLC App, offering more than 3,500 free online classes, during a ceremony held at Sagarmatha Hall, Deerwalk Complex, Sifal.
Deerwalk Free Online Classes
The app contains over 3,500 online lessons in Nepali, English, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies for Grades 4 to 11, which DLC has been providing free of cost through its website, dlc.dwit.edu.np, for many years.
Operated by Deerwalk Group Limited, located in Sifal, Kathmandu, the Deerwalk Learning Center aims to deliver free, quality education to students from community and institutional schools who are deprived of quality learning, especially in schools facing a shortage of skilled teachers.
The flipped classroom lessons, developed based on the curriculum designed by the Curriculum Development Centre, Sanothimi, Bhaktapur, have been organized by grade, subject, and lesson to make it easy for students and teachers to search, access, and learn. This app was launched to make that access even more user-friendly and systematic.
Speaking at the launch ceremony, Deerwalk Group Limited Chairman Hitesh Karki shared that more than 5 million students and teachers from Grades 4 to 11 have already benefited from the video lessons produced so far.
He expressed his belief that with the planned production and free distribution of video lessons for Grade 12 and undergraduate levels in the coming days, even more students and teachers will benefit.
Ashok Dalli, CEO of EduTech Nepal, informed that over 200,000 students and teachers from more than 300 community schools—where EduTech Nepal has built and handed over computer labs—are already benefiting from these video lessons.
The chief guest of the program, former Principal of Khaireni Secondary School, Shuklagandaki, Tanahun, Mr. Keshav Raj Ghimire, praised the contribution of flipped classes during the COVID-19 pandemic in supporting students’ learning.
He shared that he has, on his initiative, provided training on flipped classroom use to hundreds of municipalities, principals, and teachers across Nepal and abroad, benefiting hundreds of thousands of students.
Following the launch of the DLC App, a press conference was held where questions from journalists were answered by Nirmal Kumar Poudel, Principal of Deerwalk Dhading School; Yukta Burma, Flipped Class Recording Coordinator; and Asara Shrestha, Content Architect at DLC.
Currently, Deerwalk Group Limited operates three schools, one college, and one training center in various parts of the country, providing high-quality education.
For the past ten years, Deerwalk Learning Center has been producing flipped class videos and providing them free of cost to community and institutional schools, students, and teachers in Nepal and abroad.
The recently launched app plays a crucial role in making free, quality education more organized, accessible, and widely available.
About Deerwalk Learning Center
Deerwalk Learning Center (DLC) is a non-profit educational organization established in 2016 under the Deerwalk Education Group. It is dedicated to providing free, high-quality video lectures for students from Class 4 to Class 11, strictly following the syllabus developed by the Curriculum Development Center, Ministry of Education, Government of Nepal.
To make these resources more accessible, DLC has developed DLC Mobile, a learning app designed to bridge the gap between students and quality education in Nepal. The app features lessons from some of the best teachers in the country, covering a variety of compulsory subjects for Grades IV to XI. The content is tailored to meet government standards, ensuring it is relevant and effective for academic success.
DLC’s in-house team of 10+ engineers works on developing and maintaining the platform, ensuring smooth access to educational content. The initiative is particularly aimed at supporting students from public schools who may lack access to qualified teachers but have some access to the internet. By delivering structured, curriculum-based tutorials online, DLC is helping to create equal learning opportunities, empowering students across Nepal to learn anytime, anywhere, and at no cost. This effort contributes to bridging the educational divide.
