Now you do not have to go to the department if the businessman cheats you while buying the goods. Your complaint can be sent from the mobile on the spot. The Department of Commerce Supplies and Consumer Protection has developed an app that allows users to submit claims through their mobile devices.
Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Matrika Yadav inaugurated the app during an event at the ministry on Friday. The app is named ‘Consumer App’ for now, said Yogendra Gauchan, director-general of the department. He informed that after some discussions in the ministry, there might be changes made in the application’s name. According to him, the app will be fully operational after the Chatth festival. Gauchan said that the app is being launched to make consumers aware of their rights. Consumer rights have always been a massive issue for the Nepalese market. This app will prove to be a trend-setter for the market.
“Consumers can easily download the app on their mobile and send complaints and videos,” he said, adding that the department approves and investigates it. According to him, information about the complaints sent by the consumer to the app will be sent to the department immediately.
He said the implementation of the Consumer Complaint App would increase the number of consumer complaints, and the department would be more active in taking appropriate action. This will help the businessmen in business activities and allow the market to become clean and consumer-oriented, respectively.
The application will be an excellent way to help the consumers exercise their rights and keep the businessmen under check.
