Dr. Dinesh Raj Bhuju Appointed Vice President of MBUST

Madan Bhandari University of Science and Technology (MBUST) has appointed senior academician Dr. Dinesh Raj Bhuju as its Vice President (Academics and Research).

Dr. Bhuju, currently associated as an Academician with the Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST), has more than three and half decades of experience in higher education, research, and science policy in Nepal and abroad. He also serves as a Visiting Professor at Northwest University, Xi’an, China, and has held visiting and honorary academic positions at universities in Nepal, Italy, and Poland.
He earned a PhD in Ecology from Chiba University, Japan, and is widely known for his work on environmental science, climate change, and institutional development in higher education. During his career, Dr. Bhuju has held several senior positions, including Science Faculty Chief and Division Chief at NAST, Founding Principal of Khwopa College and Khwopa Engineering College, and Academic Coordinator and Executive Director at Mid-West University.
Dr. Bhuju is regarded as a leading researcher on landscape-level ecology in the Chure hills and tree-line and dendro-climatological studies in the Nepal Himalaya. He has led and advised numerous research and policy projects supported by organizations such as UNESCO, UNDP, ICIMOD, WWF, and the Government of Nepal, focusing on climate change adaptation, biodiversity conservation, disaster risk management, and science policy.
A prolific academic, he has published over 80 articles in peer-reviewed journals, contributed to more than 50 book chapters and conference proceedings, and authored over 20 books and textbooks. He has supervised over 100 Master’s theses and PhD dissertations. He is also known for his long-standing efforts in science communication, including nearly 600 science radio programs.
His contributions have been recognized through several awards, including the National Talent Award (2000) and the Bagmati Province Innovation Medal (2024).
As Vice President (Academics and Research), Dr. Bhuju will be responsible for strengthening academic standards, expanding research activities, and enhancing national and international collaboration at MBUST.
