The government is preparing to make embossed number plates mandatory on government and private vehicles from next Shrawan.

The Department of Transport Management has stated that embossed number plates will be made mandatory for new vehicles to be registered and vehicles renewed from Shrawan.

Director-General of the Department, Namaraj Ghimire, informed that embossed number plates would be made mandatory for new vehicles and vehicles to be renewed from next Shrawan.

The main objective of embossed numbers is a plate for the scientific management of vehicles.

Embossed number plates will be mandatory on all types of vehicles, including newly purchased two-wheelers and four-wheelers.

All kinds of technical works are completed, including refining the form filling system for embossed number plate connection.

The embossed number plate is mandatory in all vehicles, including public, diplomatic missions, and institutions.

In all types of old vehicles, the department has issued a notice that embossed number plates will be attached according to the lot.

And within the next three years, embossed number plates will be attached to all types of vehicles.

Once the embossed number plates are attached to all the vehicles, the number plates will be uniform.

The Department of Transport will get the integrated details of the vehicles across the country.

It will also facilitate the investigation of criminal incidents involving the use of vehicles.

The embossed number plate is connected to a ‘Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) device.

It provides information about the location of the vehicle. The device provides complete information about the vehicle involved.

Vehicles with embossed number plates do not have to look at the Blue Book. Tagged on the RFID device attached to the plate, it is clear whether the owner has paid the tax or not.

The embossed number plate cannot be removed after attachment.

The Department of Transportation claims that a vehicle with an embossed number plate cannot be stolen or driven illegally as it has to be cut to remove it.

It is considered safe as the embossed number plate can be easily checked by the reader machine, and all the details of the vehicle and the owner of the vehicle can be found easily.

This number plate contains chips that contain all the details of the owner and the vehicle.

Revenue of Rs2,500 for two-wheelers, Rs3,200 for a four-wheeled small and medium vehicle is fixed.

Whereas for large vehicles, Rs3,600  has been fixed as revenue for embossed number connections.

So far, embossed number plates have been installed in 18,000 vehicles across the country.

Currently, only embossed number plates are being installed from Bagmati Pradesh.

Correspondence has been sent to the concerned Ministry of Transport and Transport Offices to install embossed number plates from Gandaki, Lumbini and Far-Western.
