EVs Dominate NADA Auto Show
Pankaj Agarwal, Treasurer of the Nada Automobiles Association of Nepal (NADA) and a prominent businessman, has claimed that the market for electric vehicles (EVs) in Nepal has successfully established itself within the last three to four years.
Speaking to Nepal News Bank, Agarwal stated that due to this rapid success, the majority of new four-wheelers and two-wheelers to be unveiled at the upcoming NADA Auto Show will be electric. He noted that EVs have now moved past the testing phase and are firmly established in the mainstream market.
“Looking at the data of the past three to four years, EVs have already become successful in Nepal. Therefore, most of the new four-wheelers and two-wheelers arriving will be electric,” said Agarwal.
He added that the Nepalese government’s priority policies supporting EVs have provided additional momentum to market expansion. The growth of EVs is directly tied to the national objective of reducing dependence on imported petroleum and increasing the utilization of domestically produced electricity.
“Our country’s fuel is electricity. The rise in electric vehicles increases domestic electricity consumption while reducing reliance on imported fuel,” he remarked.
