A Golden Journey: From Inception to National Economic Pillar
Founded in 1975 by a small group of vehicle importers and entrepreneurs, NADA has evolved into the definitive voice of Nepalese mobility.
The domestic automobile sector has achieved monumental milestones over the past fifty years:
Surging Registrations: Total vehicle registrations in Nepal have now crossed 5.5 million.
Economic Contribution: Over the last five fiscal years alone, Nepal imported approximately NPR 470 billion worth of vehicles and related materials, generating roughly NPR 351 billion in customs revenue for the state treasury, cementing the sector as a core pillar of the national economy.
Green Mobility Shift: Paving the way for sustainable transport, the country has welcomed nearly 63,000 electric vehicles (EVs) supported by a growing network of around 2,000 charging stations.
Leadership Perspective on the Golden Jubilee
Reflecting on the milestone, NADA President Surendra Kumar Uprety emphasized that this golden jubilee edition goes beyond celebrating an institutional anniversary it honors the resilience of the entire industry.
“Fifty years is enough time to measure an industry not just by how much it sells, but by how well it sustains. The exhibition we are opening on August 25 reflects precisely that,” President Uprety stated.
Driving the Future of Nepalese Mobility
Beyond imports and sales, NADA has continuously spearheaded initiatives focused on job creation, revenue generation, green technology integration, and overall economic dynamism. This 50-year historical milestone is expected to steer Nepal’s transportation landscape toward a more modern, safe, and eco-friendly future.
