Facebook launched tool to empower women entrepreneurs

The social media giants, Facebook, launch a new tool to Empower International Woman Entrepreneurs. On March 7, Wednesday, Facebook announced that it would help share advice, resources, questions, and support to grow their business.

Facebook launches a new Community Finder Tool under its #SheMeansBusiness program that was established by Facebook in 2016 to support the businesses owned by women. The main aim of the Tool is to host events, discussions and networking opportunities at its offices throughout the world.

International Women’s Day on the platform was led by 18 to 24-year-old females.” Women created about 40% of groups on Facebook, females created 70% of all fundraisers on the platform and 43%, of the pages, are owned by women. The Top 5 countries that drove the majority of International Women’s day conversation on Facebook, making over 50% of posts were: US, Brazil, India, Mexico, and Argentina.

Facebook also revealed examples where women used Groups and pages for small business had made a positive change in their communities. ‘Supergirls’ led by Maria is a group of 90,000 Israeli women where they share their secrets and ask personal or have a shoulder to cry on. Another was “Angel” who used a Facebook page to promote and sell tickets to help her grow.

Maxine Williams, Global Chief Diversity Officer, Facebook said, “Unique to 2017, International Women’s Day was the most talked about moment of the year. It was a moment that came together around empowering women, and that was just the beginning of increasing energy for women’s movements that shows no sign of slowing down in 2018”.

People can show their support to women starting on International Women’s Day on Thursday through text posts, photo frames, cards and themed backgrounds for text posts on the Facebook platform.

Facebook also has plans to launch a “Credit Her” campaign shortly that is supposed to highlight women of both past and present who didn’t get the credit before. Some of these women include Billie Jean King, King Hopper, Jade Hameister, blues legend Big Mama Thornton and Dr. Chien Shiung Wu. Later on the “Credit Her” video honors women who have fought for equality and women who have been “firsts” in their field to pave the path of opportunity for the women, including computer programmer Ada Lovelace, director Alice Guy, and NFL coach Jen Welter.

Facebook established the program #SheMeansBusiness in 2016 to support women-owned business launched Community Finder tool with the hope that everyone will join in on the moment and celebrate the success of the women who inspired us and others in our community.
