The fifth Nepal Youth Science Summit has been completed. The summit, which was organized at Durbar High School in Kathmandu on Saturday and Sunday, was completed with enthusiastic participation.
Senior scientist and director of KAIS Dr. Basant Giri gave a note about research opportunities and possibilities for undergraduate students in Nepal.
Udit Kumar Mahatto, the coordinator of the summit, said that the summit was organized to promote the ideas and research of those interested in science and technology and to make them known at the international level.
A panel discussion and poster presentation were held during the program which lasted for 2 days. There was a panel discussion on data science, STEAM education, and waste management.
Similarly, 26 teams from different schools and colleges in the country participated. 26 teams presented their projects at the summit. After giving a presentation about their project, the judges selected the best team from school and high school and bachelor’s levels.
Occidental Public School’s magnet levitating train project has been done at the school level. Student Raunak Regmi gave his presentation about the project.
Likewise, the Smart Dustbin for Waste Management project from the school level has also been successful. Subodh Pathak and Rajendra Upadhya from Darbar High School gave their presentation about this husbandry scheme.
Similarly, the Do It Yourself Ionization Chamber and Laser Interferometer Seismic Waves Betector LISD have been selected from the high school.
Do-it-yourself ionization chamber poster presentation was done by Amod Paudel and Yogesh Bogti of CCRC College, while the Interferometer Seismic Waves Betactor LISD poster presentation was done by Agraraj Gautam of Makwanpur Multiple College.
Students and teachers selected from schools and high schools will be able to participate in the Belt and Road Teenage Maker Camp and Teacher Workshop in China.
The poster of Lock Babu Jaiswal of Pulchok Campus on Commercialization of Autonomous Eagle Eye UAV from the graduation level has been successful.
The judges of the poster presentation were Tara Chand Yadav, Saddam Hussain, Astha Sakyal, Saurabh, Biman Rimal, and Saurabh Joshi.
Apart from this, a woman has been given the Women’s Excellence Award at the summit. Bima Sharma, who is studying at the Institute of Medicine, was given the award of Rs. 10,000.
She has researched ‘Antimicrobial Activity of Trichyspermum Amy Extract and Essential OL against Clinical Isolates’.
Assistant Professor of Kathmandu University Dr. Bhupal Gobind Shrestha and Nepalese Institute of Health and Sciences Assistant Professor Dr. Anjak Khadka served as the judge of the program. Certificates were also provided to the participants in the program.
