Free Parking Facility For Electric Vehicles in Kathmandu. The Kathmandu Metropolitan has proposed with free parking facility for electric vehicles throughout the city.
Electronic vehicles are being popular these days among people as they are better for the environment.
They are more convenient and gas is not required as they run on electrically rechargeable batteries and good saving can be done.
The policy will be implemented soon if accepted, from the coming fiscal year, 2078/79.
It will aid in the promotion of electric vehicles in the valley.
Policies for Electric Vehicles:
- The first policy and program for electric vehicles are to give a 100 percent discount in their parking lots.
- Similarly, the metropolitan has also planned to build a charging station in collaboration with the Electricity Authority.
- The arrangements of the parking lot are in progress in New Road, Dharmapath, Kantipath, Durbar Marg, Tripureshwor, Ratna Park, Bhotahiti, Keshar Mahal, and Lanchaur.
- Similarly, the metropolitan has also proposed to give a 100 percent exemption from business tax on electric vehicle business for the next year.
- The central government has also waived excise duty and reduced customs duty to encourage electric vehicles.
However, the policies and programs of the corporation have yet to be approved by the municipal council.
This tax rate will undoubtedly boost the market for electric vehicles in Nepal.
EV manufacturers, such as Hyundai and Kia, are intending to introduce new electric vehicles to the market with a reduction in the electric vehicle tax rate.
