Hamro LifeBank and Pathao P.L announce a new strategic donor mobility partnership to help save lives.
Pathao, one of the largest ride-sharing apps in Nepal, has committed to supporting the non-profit organization Hamro LifeBank’s initiative ‘Ragat Chahiyo Blood Hotline’ for the next year.
Pathao will provide free rides to the blood bank/hospital for blood donors who are ready to donate blood during emergencies received by hotline (in Kathmandu Valley). This partnership is highly focused on blood donor care and aims to motivate and retain blood donors.
This partnership will also help patients’ families in need, who at many times are obliged to pick up and drop off blood donors who are not mobile.
Many people rely on friends/family networks or social media to manage blood during emergencies in Nepal. These mediums are helpful and the only resort for help at times of need. But many times, this process creates a lot of panic and fear for the needy as well as mediators who come through this.
Many people are unaware of the most basic information on blood and where blood banks are and if there’s blood available in the blood bank. They end up creating difficult situations for themselves. Addressing the need of the community, Ragat Chahiyo Hotline was initiated by Hamro Life Bank in early 2020 to eliminate this stress and help patients’ families with a centralized process with the right information for blood management.
This initiative includes a build of a robust communication hub and search system, supported and funded by America Nepal Medical Foundation. The hotline was also instrumental in supporting Covid-19 plasma requests in Kathmandu during the ongoing pandemic.
Over a year of blood demand management process, we often faced situations when donors are managed but their mobility is a challenge especially for patients who come from out of the valley. Blood donors are the most important part of the blood banking ecosystem and the only source of blood in the world.
With all the technological and medical advancement, blood is the only thing that cannot be manufactured and comes only from kind donors. Thus, blood donor care and retainment with gestures of gratitude are very important to make sure that the blood supply at blood banks is in line with the demands. However, this part of the ecosystem often seems to be less prioritized and an after-though in developing countries like Nepal.
.Taking this into consideration, Pathao has committed to providing two free rides to the hospital/blood bank and back for blood donors who agree to donate blood during blood needs. All free rides will be vetted and will be given at the discretion of Pathao and Hamro LifeBank.
Founder and CEO of Hamro LifeBank, Rumee Singh said, “We are delighted to announce this partnership with Pathao, a highly respectable and trusted organization. Through this new alliance, we will be able to impact the lives of more people and minimize the challenge of donor mobility, help retain donors and make the blood search process at Ragat Chahiyo Hotline be more efficient.”
Surakshya Hamal, Marketing Manager of Pathao said,” Pathao is committed to giving back to our community and we are excited to support Hamro LifeBank in their mission to save lives.
We are humbled that our riders will have the opportunity to play a crucial role in helping blood donors and patients in need. This is definitely a very “fulfilling” partnership for us and we are proud of our commitment.”
