Global IME Bank Limited has successfully conducted a comprehensive financial literacy program through its 233 branch offices, reaching over 35,000 participants across Nepal.

Global IME Financial Literacy Program

This initiative, part of the bank’s corporate social responsibility efforts, targeted various groups lacking access to financial services, including farmers, micro, small, and medium entrepreneurs, laborers, prospective foreign workers, students, women, remittance recipients, and local youth.

The financial literacy program spanned all seven provinces, with significant participation from the following regions:

Koshi Province: Over 3,500 participants
Madhesh Province: 2,200 participants
Bagmati Province: 15,000 participants
Gandaki Province: 5,500 participants
Lumbini Province: 6,000 participants
Karnali Province: 500 participants
Far West Province: 2,500 participants

In the current financial year 2080/81, Global IME Bank has been actively promoting financial literacy and digital banking through its branches in all 77 districts.

The program covers essential topics such as savings, credit, remittances, digital banking, insurance, investment, additional banking services, financial fraud, and financial discipline.

As Nepal’s first commercial bank in the private sector with a branch network in every district, Global IME Bank serves over 4.6 million customers.

The bank operates more than 1,100 service centers, including 354 branch offices, 384 ATMs, 277 branchless banking services, 68 extension and revenue collection counters, and three foreign representative offices.

Global IME Bank is dedicated to expanding its services and providing exceptional banking experiences to its customers.

Additionally, the bank plays a vital role in the national economy by facilitating remittances from countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Malaysia, South Korea, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait, India, Jordan, and Hong Kong.

Global IME Financial Literacy Program

By prioritizing financial literacy and digital banking, Global IME Bank continues to empower communities across Nepal, contributing to the nation’s economic growth and financial inclusion.

The digital divide poses a significant threat to Nepal’s vision for a tech-driven future. To address this, the government must implement clear policies and invest in network infrastructure, ensuring quality internet services and legal safeguards.

Digital literacy programs should be expanded, and educational institutions, social organizations, and mass media should raise awareness.

The private sector must invest in digital technologies and cater to diverse needs, while banks promote digital banking for financial inclusion.

Regulatory bodies like NTA and NRB need to create supportive policies to bridge the digital gap and promote a balanced digital economy, requiring collaborative efforts from all stakeholders.
