Global IME Bank Named Best Commercial Bank for Financial Literacy

Global IME Bank Limited has received the Outstanding Financial Literacy Award among Class A commercial banks at the Financial Literacy Summit and Award event organized by KTM Voice.
Global IME Financial Literacy Recognition
National Planning Commission Vice Chairman Dr. Guṇakar Bhatta and Finance Secretary Dr. Ghanshyam Upadhyay presented the award certificate and trophy to Global IME Bank Chief Executive Officer Surendra Raj Regmi. The conference evaluated participating institutions on program impact, geographic reach, beneficiary counts, digital innovation, and engagement across rural and underserved communities.
National Financial Literacy Summit Highlights
The summit marked the first national-level event of its kind in Nepal, featuring three distinct sessions and participation from regulatory and sector leaders.
Opening Ceremony:
The conference was inaugurated with a symbolic piggy bank handover ceremony, with key addresses delivered by NPC Vice Chairman Dr. Bhatta, Finance Secretary Dr. Upadhyay, Nepal Rastra Bank Board Member Chintamani Siwakoti, Nepal Clearing House CEO Nilesh Man Singh Pradhan, and Microfinance Bankers Association Vice President Deepak Nidhi Tiwari.
Sustainable Economic Development Session:
The first panel discussion, titled Financial Literacy as a Catalyst for Sustainable Economic Development, was moderated by Basanta Lamsal and featured former NPC Vice Chairman Dr. Prakash Kumar Shrestha, NRB Executive Director Guru Prasad Poudel, High-Level Financial Sector Reform Steering Committee Member Bhuvan Kumar Dahal, and Tribhuvan University Associate Professor Dr. Bharat Singh Thapa.
Inclusive Systems and AML Session:
The second panel addressed Building an Inclusive and Transparent Financial System: Financial Literacy, Financial Inclusion, and Anti-Money Laundering Controls, chaired by Dr. Ramesh Chandra Poudel and moderated by Shine Resunga Development Bank HR Head Prabhas Rai, with insights from Dr. Rajan Thapa, banking expert Anal Raj Bhattarai, and Microfinance Association President Lekhnath Khaniya.
Corporate and Institutional Award Winners
Awards were presented to financial institutions and service providers based on the reach and effectiveness of their literacy initiatives.
- Class A Commercial Banks: Global IME Bank Limited won the Outstanding Financial Literacy Award in the commercial banking category.
- Class B Development Banks: Garima Bikas Bank Limited secured the top award among development banks.
- Class C Finance Companies: Goodwill Finance Limited received the primary award in the finance company sector.
- Class D Microfinance Institutions: Global IME Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited was named the top microfinance institution for financial literacy.
- Digital Financial Literacy: Nepal Clearing House Limited was recognized as the outstanding institution for promoting digital literacy and payment systems awareness.
Individual Recognition and Honors
The event also honored individuals for their contributions to financial literacy, education, and journalism.
- Executive Recognition: NRB Executive Director Guru Prasad Poudel received the Outstanding Financial Literacy Honor for regulatory leadership in financial education.
- Training and Advocacy: Former banker Bhuvan Dahal was awarded Best Financial Literacy Trainer, while NRB Information Officer and Deputy Spokesperson Sudha Shrestha was honored as Financial Literacy Trainer of the Year.
- Journalism and Entrepreneurship: Banking Khabar Editor-in-Chief Madhav Nirdosh received an award for contributions to financial journalism and public awareness, while Bhim Bahadur KC from Sudurpashchim received the Emerging Entrepreneurship Award.
