Governor Poudel Signed NPR 50 Banknote Enters Circulation

Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has officially brought a new NPR 50 denomination banknote into circulation starting from Ashoj 2, 2083.

The Currency Management Department of the central bank released the new banknote maintaining the same size and color scheme as the previous version.
Key Features of the New NPR 50 Note
The newly released NPR 50 note incorporates several key design elements and updated security features.
- Serial Number Range: The new banknotes carry serial numbers ranging from Ta 24 000001 to Na 70 999999.
- Governor Signature: The note bears the official signature of Nepal Rastra Bank Governor Prof. Dr. Biswo Nath Poudel.
- Front Design: Features an image of Mount Everest on the left, a Rhododendron watermark on the right with the numeral 50 below it, and the B.S. 2082 series mark at the bottom.
- Security Thread: Contains a 1.2 mm wide windowed security thread woven into the paper that displays the lettering NRB when held up to the light.
- Back Design: Displays an image of a snow leopard with Nepal Rastra Bank written at the top, along with Rupees Fifty and the 2025 AD series number at the bottom.
Additional Background and NRB Appeal
The central bank provided context on former note series and urged proper handling of the currency.
- Previous Series Context: On Ashar 22, 2077, NRB announced the release of the 2019 series with serial numbers 000001 to 999999, out of which only numbers up to 900000 were brought into circulation.
- Currency Care Request: Nepal Rastra Bank has appealed to the public to handle banknotes with care, emphasizing that national currency is national property.
