Texas College Principal and CEO says Grading system is moving Education towards international inclination

Bhesh Raj Pokhrel, Principal and CEO of Texas International College has been involved in the education sector since 2066 B.S.

The college which started with 88 students in 2066 B.S has now more than 5000 students from Montessori to master level education.

Mr. Pokhrel says that this progress was possible because the organization has changed the quality of education. The collaboration with the many national and international communities such as CAN Federation, Information Security Response Team Nepal (npCert), Center For Cyber Security Research and Innovation (CSRI Nepal), One Cover Private Limited, Delight Solutions, Nepal Ultimate Solutions, and Ec-Council, CISCO, and Microsoft has given academic and career exposure to the students.

He also says that the current grading system is upgrading education towards an international inclination.

In higher education, where most programs operate in a semester system, students are not examined just by their marks. The final grade is examined by various factors rather than marks, where students are given internal evaluation based on attendance, participation in class, and personality, in contrast to the traditional final exam, where one exam paper would determine the ability of a person.

Pokhrel further states that the grading system has made the education system more scientific and progressive.

He also clarifies the misconception about the grading system. A person securing a grade of A+ cannot be labeled as an A+ student or as a B grade student. Pokhrel says the system wants to give the perspective of equality among students and not create a division.

The implementation of the grading system has made us members of the global village, where we are all equal. Pokhrel adds that we can still promote our local education, but we shall be avid followers of the code of conduct of international trends, and there is always a space for betterment.

The CEO also says that many private organizations are trying to give the best quality education to their students, and there is competition for the survival of the fittest in terms of price, quality, and accessibility among them, and it’s justifiable.

The trend of the young population going abroad for higher studies has badly affected the country, and he says it can only be solved if we provide the best education here and secure the young population.

Pokhrel also adds that educational institutions should be examined by the government, and they need to be given proper feedback instead of interfering in the matter.

The head of the college urges that many colleges should focus on quality by providing research-oriented classes and case studies rather than just lectures and a much more collaborative approach to student interaction, engagement, and involvement.
