Great Himalayan Odyssey 2024: Bajaj Dominar’s First Motorcycle Journey to Ladakh

The much-anticipated “The Great Himalayan Odyssey” was flagged off from Bikers Cafe in Naxal, Kathmandu, on November 1st, 2024. A group of nine Bajaj Dominar 400 riders embarked on an epic 20-day journey to Ladakh, with a mission to conquer the world’s highest motorable road, Umling La, standing at an astonishing altitude of 5,883 meters (19,300 feet).

This grand adventure will cover more than 6,000 kilometers, making it a significant milestone in the country’s motorcycle culture. The Bajaj Dominar 400 riders began their journey from Bikers Cafe and are now headed towards one of the most challenging terrains in the world.

According to Bajaj, the journey will not only test the riders’ endurance but also showcase the durability and resilience of the Dominar 400 motorcycles. Amit Raj Chalise, Marketing Head at Bajaj Motorcycles, expressed his excitement, saying, “We are extremely proud of our Bajaj Dominar riders taking on this monumental challenge. Reaching Umling La, the highest motorable road in the world, is a true testament to the stability of the Dominar 400 and the bravery of these riders. We wish them all the best as they push their limits in this cross-country adventure.”

The expedition is led by team captain Manish Devkota, who shared his thoughts, “Reaching Umling La has been a dream for many riders, and now that dream is coming true for us. We are fully prepared for the challenges ahead and have complete confidence in our Dominar motorcycles and our riding skills. This is not just a journey but a statement of courage and passion. We are grateful for the unwavering support and encouragement from everyone.”

The Great Himalayan Odyssey, which kicked off on October 15, 2024, is more than just a motorcycle ride—it is a showcase of endurance, skill, and adventure. The expedition through the challenging Himalayan terrain to the world’s highest motorable road promises to inspire Nepal’s motorcycle community.

As the riders continue their journey, the expedition serves as a powerful demonstration of the Bajaj Dominar 400’s prowess and the determination of the Nepali riders. This remarkable journey will undoubtedly bring pride to the entire motorcycling community in Nepal.
