Nepal Investment Summit 2024 witnessed a significant discourse on infrastructure and transportation during its Plenary Session titled “Building Better Infrastructure and Transportation.”
Among the distinguished panelists, Prof. Dr. Bhola Thapa, Vice Chancellor of Kathmandu University, delivered insightful perspectives on the greening of the transport sector and emphasized collaborative research and development (R&D) initiatives with the private sector and national/international organizations.
Greening Nepal’s Transportation Insights
During the session moderated by Dr. Surya Raj Acharya, an infrastructure expert, Prof. Thapa shed light on the potential of transitioning towards greener alternatives in the transportation sector, such as hydrogen fuel and electrified transport.
He underscored the importance of academia-industry partnerships in fostering innovation and sustainable solutions, highlighting KU’s commitment to driving R&D efforts in infrastructure and transportation.
The session, chaired by Hon’ble Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Mr. Raghubir Mahaseth, featured discussions on financing models, private sector engagement, and regulatory reforms to accelerate infrastructure development in Nepal.
Prof. Thapa’s insights provided a crucial academic perspective, emphasizing the imperative of sustainable practices in transportation infrastructure.
