Himalayan Bank Remain Open
Himalayan Bank Ltd. (HBL) has issued an important notice for its customers regarding a temporary change in its operational schedule on Friday, September 12, 2025 (Bhadra 27, 2082). In light of the current national situation and heightened security concerns, the bank will operate a select number of branches in the Kathmandu Valley to provide essential banking services. This decision is aimed at ensuring that customers can access critical financial services while the bank maintains a strong focus on the safety of its staff and clients.
Limited Operations and Strategic Locations
Himalayan Bank has designated nine branches within Bagmati Province that will be open for a limited period from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. This four-hour window is intended to facilitate urgent financial transactions while managing the overall operational environment. The chosen branches are strategically located to serve major residential and commercial areas across Kathmandu, Lalitpur, and Bhaktapur. The open branches are:
- Kathmandu: Hiti Durbar, New Road, Koteshwor, and Maharajgunj
- Lalitpur: Patan, Jhamsikhel, Satdobato, and Patan Sundhara
- Bhaktapur: Surya Vinayak
By keeping these specific locations operational, Himalayan Bank is ensuring that a wide range of customers can access services without unnecessary travel, thereby minimizing risk during a period of uncertainty.
Focus on Essential Services and Digital Banking
During the limited operational hours, Himalayan Bank will focus on providing only the most critical services. These include cash deposits and withdrawals, cheque deposits and payments, ECC/RTGS services, and domestic and international remittance. These services are vital for maintaining liquidity and for businesses that rely on time-sensitive transactions. The bank has also advised customers that branches outside the Kathmandu Valley will have limited operations based on the prevailing local conditions, and further updates will be shared as necessary.
To further support its customers and reduce the need for in-person visits, Himalayan Bank is strongly encouraging the use of its digital banking platforms. The bank’s mobile banking (HI-MB), internet banking (Himal@net), and ATM networks remain fully functional and are available 24/7. These platforms provide a secure and convenient way for customers to perform a wide range of transactions, from fund transfers to utility bill payments, from the safety of their homes. This dual-pronged strategy of providing limited in-person services while maintaining a robust digital infrastructure is a key element of the bank’s crisis management plan.
Commitment to Customer Support and Safety
In a period of uncertainty, transparent and timely communication is paramount. Himalayan Bank has provided several customer support channels to assist customers and help them verify branch-specific details before traveling. Customers can contact the bank’s Customer Service Phone at 01-5971346, its Call Centre at 01-420089, or via email at [email protected]. The bank has also provided a toll-free number for its customers. These channels are crucial for customers to get real-time guidance, ensuring a safe and efficient banking experience. The bank’s decision to maintain limited operations is consistent with the actions of other leading financial institutions in Nepal, highlighting a coordinated effort by the banking sector to navigate the current national environment responsibly. By providing clear communication and robust digital banking options, HBL is demonstrating its resilience and unwavering dedication to being a reliable financial partner for its customers.
