IMEI of any Mobile Set Purchased within Nepal is not Required

IMEI of any mobile set purchased within Nepal is not required.

Telecom Authority Said that There is no need to register IMEI of Mobile Sets Purchased within Nepal.

Nepal Telecommunications Authority is the telecommunications regulatory body of Nepal.

It is an autonomous body established in Feb 1998 in accordance with the Telecommunications Act, 1997 and Telecommunications Regulation, 1998.

The NTA is responsible for regulating all matters related to telecommunications of Nepal.

Nepal Telecom Authority has clarified that IMEI of mobile phones currently in operation should not be registered.

He has requested the public not to panic saying that there has been a huge increase in the IMEI registration system of NTA in recent days.

NTA has issued a public notice making it clear that the IMEI of any mobile set purchased within Nepal is not required.

Many mobile customers are confused about whether to register the IMEI of their set in use.

The registration process has been severely hampered due to technical problems in the system and the NTA is trying to speed up the system and it will take some time for the system to run smoothly.

Similarly, in the case of sets imported and used by individuals, arrangements will be made so that the customer’s telecommunication service will not be disrupted.

Arrangements will be made to register IMEI by providing a more appropriate time after the blocked IMEI registration system is activated.

NTA has also requested to purchase mobile sets registered with NTA as per the rules in Nepal and to get rid of unnecessary hassle by purchasing VAT bills.

NTA has said that it is trying to dispel the illusions by issuing public notice saying that unnecessary rumors have been spread in the market.

It is also going to implement a mobile device management system from July 20.
