In a significant step toward boosting research and technological advancement, the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation has officially invited proposals from universities across Nepal to establish and operate Innovation Centers.

The initiative follows a ministerial-level decision made on Bhadra 29, under which official letters have been dispatched to major national universities.

Target Universities

The Ministry has reached out to the following 11 universities:

• Tribhuvan University

• Kathmandu University

• Pokhara University

• Purbanchal University

Objectives of the Innovation Centers

The primary goal is to effectively utilize the existing knowledge, research capacity, technical human resources, and laboratories within universities. Key focus areas include:

Prototype Development: Translating academic research into practical, working models.

Technology Transfer & Intellectual Property: Protecting and commercializing new inventions.

Startup & Entrepreneurship Promotion: Bridging the gap between academia and the market to foster new business ventures.

Submission Deadline

Universities have been requested to submit their detailed proposals, outlining their current capacities, existing infrastructure, and future action plans, to the Ministry by Ashoj 10.

This progressive step is expected to drive research-based growth, foster youth entrepreneurship, and strengthen the innovation ecosystem in Nepalese higher education.
