Instagram Empowers Users with New ‘Your Algorithm’ Feed Customization Tools

The new features being evaluated include:

Instead of just refreshing your feed, a dedicated pull-down gesture from the home screen will open a dedicated “Your Algorithm” page. From this hub, you can view the AI-generated summary of your perceived interests and manually adjust or remove topics on the fly.
2. Reels Swipe-Up Prompts
While scrolling through Reels, you may encounter quick, interactive prompts when swiping up. The app will actively ask what type of content you want to see, allowing you to train the delivery system in real time as you consume media.
3. Granular Topic Control Buttons
Instagram is experimenting with direct “Topic Control” buttons placed explicitly below individual videos. With a single tap, you can give instant, binary feedback like a quick checkmark to approve a topic or an “X” to completely deprioritize similar videos from your feed.
4. Conversational Feed Customization
Perhaps the most notable technical shift is the introduction of large language models (LLMs) to understand plain-language instructions. Users will be able to speak or type directly to the system using guided prompts to shape their digital space. Examples include:
