The Insurance Awareness Program Biratnagar initiative, led by the Nepal Insurance Authority (NIA), successfully engaged the youth of Koshi Province as part of the Global Money Week 2026 celebrations.

By interacting with students at leading campuses in Biratnagar, the regulatory body aimed to foster a culture of safety and financial foresight among the next generation of Nepalese professionals.

The Insurance Awareness Program Biratnagar was conducted through a series of focused interaction sessions at several of the city’s most prominent educational institutions.
Himalaya Darshan College: Students from the management and IT faculties participated in discussions on how insurance serves as a safety net for entrepreneurs.
City College Biratnagar: The session focused on the role of digital transformation in making insurance more accessible to the youth.
Mahendra Morang Adarsha Multiple Campus: As one of the largest constituent campuses of Tribhuvan University, this venue saw a massive turnout where students explored the macroeconomic impact of the insurance sector on Nepal’s GDP.

Preeti Dev (Koshi Province Chief):
As the primary facilitator, Dev provided deep insights into the Authority’s strategic plan for 2023–2027. she emphasized that insurance is not just an expense but a critical tool for financial inclusion. She clarified the Authority’s role in protecting the rights of the insured and regulating the conduct of insurers to ensure market stability.
Milan Pokhrel (Assistant First):
Pokhrel focused on the practical “how-to” of insurance, guiding students through the process of selecting the right policy and the formal steps for claim settlement. He encouraged students to view the insurance sector as a viable and rewarding career path, noting the significant demand for skilled actuaries, underwriters, and risk managers in Nepal.
Interactive Quiz and Career Counseling
To maintain high energy levels, the Insurance Awareness Program Biratnagar included a competitive financial literacy quiz. Students who demonstrated a sharp understanding of the day’s topics were recognized, which helped solidify the core messages of the campaign.
The sessions concluded with a dedicated Q&A and career counseling segment. Students inquired about the differences between life and non-life insurance, the benefits of third-party motor insurance, and the educational pathways required to become a licensed insurance surveyor or agent in Nepal.
