Kathmandu University School of Engineering (SoE) and School of Education (SOEd) signed a Letter of Understanding (LoU) to collaborate on offering a dual-degree program towards advancing KU’s education in the field of information technology on June 18, 2024.

The LoU marks the first formal collaboration between the schools of KU in offering dual degree programs.
The School of Engineering has been offering a four-year Bachelor in Information Technology (BIT) under its Department of Computer Science and Engineering. Similarly, The School of Education has been offering a four-year Bachelor’s degree in Technical Education in Information Technology (B.Tech. Ed.-IT).
The collaboration between the two schools for the dual degree program allows the students enrolled in B.Tech. Ed.-IT to continue their education in the dual degree program after successfully completing their degrees, and the dual degree program will be offered at the academic institutions currently offering B.Tech. Ed.-IT programs at KU.
For the formalization of the dual degree program, a steering committee comprising the subject committee members of the BIT and B.Tech. Ed.-IT programs at each school will be formed.
The LoU was signed today at the university’s Senate Hall by the deans of the School of Education and the School of Engineering, coordinated by the Acting Director of the Planning and Development Directorate.
