KIST Cancer Center at KIST Medical College & Teaching Hospital in Lalitpur has announced free general beds and telemedicine services for cancer patients from October 12 to 31, 2026. Marking one year of its palliative care services and Pink October breast cancer awareness month, the initiative aims to aid economically disadvantaged and geographically isolated patients.
KIST Cancer Center, operating under KIST Medical College and Teaching Hospital, has announced free general bed and telemedicine services for cancer patients from October 12 to 31, 2026.
The initiative marks the first anniversary of the hospital’s palliative care services and coincides with Pink October, the annual breast cancer awareness campaign. The program aims to support patients from economically disadvantaged backgrounds and those facing geographical barriers to accessing healthcare.
According to the hospital, the free services are intended to improve access to care for cancer patients who struggle to obtain necessary medical support due to financial constraints or difficulties reaching healthcare facilities.
To commemorate the occasion, the hospital also organized “Pink Lights of Hope 2026,” an event bringing together cancer survivors and doctors to light pink candles in solidarity with people affected by cancer.
Held under the message, “Every Candle Has Its Own Story,” the event celebrated the courage, resilience and hope of individuals battling cancer, while honoring survivors and raising awareness about the disease.
Through its palliative care services, KIST Medical College and Teaching Hospital aims to relieve suffering among patients with cancer and other serious illnesses, improve their quality of life, and provide essential support to patients and their families.
The hospital emphasized that palliative care extends beyond managing physical pain, offering emotional support and compassionate care to patients and their loved ones.
On the occasion of Pink October, the hospital also urged the public to raise awareness about cancer, undergo timely health screenings, and extend support to individuals and families affected by the disease.
With the message, “Every Candle Tells a Story, Every Story Holds Hope,” the hospital called for collective action against cancer and encouraged greater compassion and understanding toward patients.
