The decision was made during a cabinet meeting on Wednesday, where the government adopted the pledge prepared by a dedicated task force. This pledge aligns with the commitments made by the political parties involved in the coalition.

During the announcement, the Government Spokesperson and Minister for Communication and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung, stated that the seven-point agreement passed the commitment between the Nepali Congress and the CPN-UML.

The task force responsible for drafting the pledge included key political figures: General Secretary Gagan Thapa and Spokesperson Prakash Sharan Mahat from the Nepali Congress, alongside Deputy General Secretary Pradeep Gyawali and Bishnu Rimal from the CPN-UML.

On Wednesday, the task force officially handed over the draft of the commitment to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba.

This collaborative effort aims to foster policy continuity and ensure governance stability within Nepal.

The government also aims to strengthen the capital market by enhancing the institutional effectiveness and transparency of regulatory bodies. This step is intended to safeguard investors’ interests while boosting confidence in the stock market.

A critical aspect of the commitment is maintaining Nepal’s national interest and sovereignty, ensuring that foreign relations, particularly with neighboring countries, are conducted with mutual trust and respect. The document highlights the need for balanced diplomatic, economic, and trade relationships with international partners, all while prioritizing Nepal’s development needs.

Constitutional implementation and amendments are also addressed. The government commits to reviewing and revising the constitution based on public consultations, expert opinions, and political party consensus to ensure the stability and progress of federalism. This will include addressing issues such as federal civil service, police adjustment, and education laws.

The government’s initiative reflects its dedication to tackling economic challenges, fostering good governance, and ensuring political stability while prioritizing the national interest.

Key Focus Areas:

  • Economic Growth and Fiscal Policies
  • Strengthening Capital Markets
  • National Interest and Foreign Relations
  • Constitution Implementation and Amendments
  • Political Stability and Governance
