Laxmi Sunrise Bank concluded its ninth annual Laxmi Sunrise Invitational Golf Tournament on Friday, November 16, 2024, at the picturesque Gokarna Resort.

Themed “Swing for Sustainability,” the event underscored the bank’s commitment to environmental responsibility by adopting a zero-carbon approach and championing green initiatives.

Before the tournament, the bank conducted a comprehensive environmental assessment, estimating the event’s carbon footprint at 1 ton of CO2e.

In response, the bank committed to planting 1,000 trees, far exceeding the recommended 45 trees to offset the impact. Additionally, each participant received a plant sapling, symbolizing their contribution to a greener future.

The one-day event attracted 107 enthusiastic golfers, including eight women, who competed in an 18-hole stableford format with a 3/4 handicap.

The tournament brought together corporate leaders, golf enthusiasts, and sustainability advocates, creating a vibrant atmosphere of sportsmanship and environmental consciousness.

  • Champion: Atmaram Simkhada (43 points)
  • Runner-Up: Ashish Lal Shrestha (42 points)
  • Best Gross: Tashi Tshiring (38 points)
  • Senior Category Winner: Tulasi Bhatta (40 points)
  • Ladies Winner: Tara Karki Chitrakar (35 points)
  • Ladies’ Runner-Up: Sumitra Khadka (30 points)
  • Longest Drive: Norbu Tshiring Sherpa
  • Closest to the Pin: Anil Kumar Sinha

The awards ceremony, graced by Laxmi Sunrise Chairman Raman Nepal, CEO Ajaya Bikram Shah, Gokarna,  Golf Club President Suhrid Ghimire, and Club Captain Joseph Nathan, honored the winners and recognized the tournament’s commitment to sustainability.

This year’s tournament exemplifies Laxmi Sunrise’s innovative approach to integrating sustainability into its corporate initiatives. By promoting reforestation, reducing carbon footprints, and encouraging eco-friendly practices, the bank aligns its activities with its #OrangeLovesGreen campaign, reinforcing its position as a leader in green banking.
