Due to the task of maintaining Melamchi drinking water, the Kathmandu Metropolitan Municipality (KMC) has been experiencing difficulty in using the internet placed in the public place. Recently KMC had set internet connection in seven public places.
“As the maintenance of Melamchi pipeline is in the process, the internet wires have been cut downed in few places of KMC for some time, so there has been an issue of internet connection in KMC,” said Dhruva Kafle, chief of KMC Information and Technology department.
Kafle pledges to sort out the internet problem as soon as possible.
Three months earlier, KMC in association with Worldlink Communication has installed free internet facilities to the public of Pashupatinath area, Balaju, Sankha Park, Swaymbhu, Bouddha and Hanuman Dhoka Durbar area.
For the convenience of an indigenous and foreign citizen in public places, KMC has made such an arrangement of free internet. All connected devices are now equipped with a capacity of 10 Mbps. It is assumed that around 200 people have been using the facility regularly.
“KMC is planning to install the free internet connection in many other places,” said Kafle.
