Malaysia-Nepal Business Council Trade Talks With NCC Focus On Investment Opportunities

The Malaysia-Nepal Business Council, which arrived in Nepal today on an official visit, held discussions with the Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC) regarding trade facilitation and investment enhancement.

During the program organized at the Chamber building in Jamal, Kathmandu, a delegation led by NCC President Mr. Kamalesh Kumar Agrawal and officials from the Malaysia-Nepal Business Council discussed bilateral economic relations, employment generation, and expansion of investment cooperation between the two countries.
The delegation from the Malaysia-Nepal Business Council, led by its President Mr. Pradeep Kumar Kukreja, presented proposals regarding bilateral investment and trade partnership to the NCC leadership during their visit to Nepal.
NCC President Mr. Agrawal recalled that the diplomatic relationship between Nepal and Malaysia has spanned over 65 years and emphasized that the ties are strong in terms of trade, investment, and employment opportunities.
He highlighted that over 500,000 Nepali youths are currently employed in Malaysia, and that there is significant air connectivity between the two nations, the highest among countries Nepal is connected to. President Agrawal also stated that the Nepali workforce has made important contributions to the economies of both countries.
However, he stressed the need to facilitate trade in order to reduce Nepal’s trade deficit with Malaysia, which remains high.
President Agrawal urged Malaysian entrepreneurs and investors to invest in Nepal’s energy, manufacturing, agriculture, tourism, mining, education, and health sectors. He stated that Nepal is an ideal investment destination and requested Malaysian businesses to increase the import of Nepali goods to help minimize the trade deficit.
During the meeting with NCC officials, Malaysia-Nepal Business Council President Mr. Pradeep Kumar Kukreja shared that Nepal’s tourism sector has greatly attracted their attention. He said the council’s visit was inspired by the investment potential they see in Nepal, and expressed their intention to collaborate with the Chamber to help improve the business environment
