He has expanded his investment horizons by acquiring a significant stake in Roadshow Securities, a newly established stockbroker company. This move marks another strategic step in Gurung’s efforts to diversify his business interests beyond retail.
In recent years, Gurung has not only solidified Bhatbhateni’s dominance in the retail sector but has also ventured into various other businesses, including service-oriented enterprises. His latest investment in the financial sector comes as part of a broader strategy to broaden his portfolio and tap into the growing opportunities within Nepal’s financial markets.
Gurung’s investment is specifically in Roadshow Securities, which holds license number 92. This stockbroker company recently received approval from the Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) as part of the latest round of broker licensing. Roadshow Securities operates out of Sundhara, Kathmandu, with a paid-up capital of NPR 20 crore, making it a notable player in the emerging brokerage landscape.
According to sources, Gurung purchased a 51 percent stake in Roadshow Securities, becoming a major shareholder alongside Kalu Gurung, who initially held the majority stake. Kalu Gurung confirmed that he sold half of his majority shares to Min Bahadur Gurung, thereby solidifying Min Bahadur’s position as a key investor in the company.
This investment not only underscores Gurung’s confidence in the future of Nepal’s stock market but also reflects his ambition to influence the financial sector with the same entrepreneurial spirit that made Bhatbhateni a household name. With this acquisition, Gurung aims to leverage his extensive business experience to contribute to the growth and development of Roadshow Securities.
